Taste of Randolph

Hey, blogspot readers, SouthSide says "...it's not too early to think about summertime fun..." especially if you live where she lives. As soon as the weather gets warmer, Chicago bursts at the seams with music/neighborhood festivals such as 6 Corners BBQ Fest, Feista Del Sol, Green Fest and much, much more rockin' around town.

Plenty of weekend fun times, music, food and good company everywhere!

This is the moment where this multi-cultural city springs to life ...and keeps this reviewer extremely busy since many of the local bands perform at one (or more) of these festivals.

Recently, SouthSide received a press release about The Taste of Randolph Street Fest 2013, blogspot readers. Running from June 14 to Jun 16, this annual fest (now in its 15th year) will feature some of the top bands of indie rock performing on three (3) stages which benefits the West Loop Community Organization. This organization helps residents, visitors, and businesses have an active voice in decisions affecting the neighborhood parks, development, schools, traffic, safety, and more. The West Loop Organization "...is constantly working to ensure positive growth for the neighborhood, while offering social events and promoting beneficial developments to improve the quality of life in the West Loop..."
This year's lineup includes the supergroup Divine Fits featuring Brit Daniel of Spoon and members of Wolf Parade, the Welsh alternative group The Joy Formidable, who recently released their latest album -Wolf's Law, Los Angeles quartet Milo Greene, Lord Huron and many, many more. Plus for you hip clubsters, there will be a DJ stage hosted by The MID! SouthSide's excited to see friends JC Brooks & the Uptown Sound, The Heard and Van Ghost are part of the lineup too.

Besides music, there will be food from the top restaurants located in the West Loop neighborhood joined with talented artisans and eclectic vendors throughout this 3-day weekend festival, blogspot readers. Booths will be aligned in rows spanning the entire 6 blocks along Randolph Street ...so bring your comfiest shoes and be prepared to see handcrafted clothes to accessories and artwork as well as sample delicious eats.

It's going to be one fun weekend, blogspot readers, so make plans to attend. You just might see SouthSide there covering this event.
